John R. Dodd Award: Lacrosse
2007 Winner
Jim Garnham
Jim Garnham is truly one of the “Wingate success stories” we love to talk about. He struggled mightily his first two years academically. He now has over a 3.0 GPA and was elected a lacrosse team captain for three years by his teammates. He has served as a referee for the Wingate intramural program and acted as Victor E. Bulldog (wore Bulldog mascot costume) this past football season. This past year, his senior season, Garnham’s athletic services were lost due to a knee injury. This did not slow him down as he quickly became another assistant coach for the lacrosse team. This past weekend he showed up at halftime to cheer his teammates on to a conference championship one day after reconstructive knee surgery. Jim Garnham truly does bleed Blue and Gold.
