The Ralph Hargett Men's Golf Leadership Award
2006 Winner
Martin Hackney

For the second year in a row, Wingate senior Martin Hackney (Quincy, Fla.) won the Ralph Hargett Men’s Golf Leadership Award. Hackney is a four-year letterwinner and starter for the Bulldogs. Hackney was honored during Wingate’s recent athletic awards ceremony in the LaVerne Banquet Hall on the Wingate campus.
Hackney averaged 80.10 strokes per round his senior season. He shot a career-best 153 on four different occasions to equal the best two-round tournament scores of his career. A member of Kappa Alpha Order fraternity, Hackney is very active in volunteer service.
The Ralph Hargett Men’s Golf Leadership Award will honor the memory of longtime men’s golf coach Ralph Hargett. The award will be presented each year to the member of the men’s golf team who best represents the ideals coach Hargett embodied: leadership, integrity, character and sportsmanship.
It is the hope of the Wingate University athletic department that this award will become one of the most prestigious honors the department bestows.
