Wingate University senior Keith McGirt (Fairmont,
N.C.) was honored with the Most Valuable Player award for men’s golf. McGirt
finished out the year averaging 77.75 shots per round. A four-year starter,
McGirt received a B.S. degree in Management at Wingate’s Commencement Exercises
on Saturday, May 13. McGirt finished
tied for ninth in the Outback Intercollegiate Shootout (Feb. 6-7, 2006) and the
J. Ralph Hargett Memorial Invitational (March 27-28). He achieved his low round
of the season (74) on two occasions. McGirt shot a 74 in the Coker Invitational
on October 25. He also carded a 74 at the Food Lion SAC championships on April
10.
