Assistant baseball coach Jeff Gregory is
responsible for working with the Bulldog hitters and the
position players. In addition, he coordinates Wingate’s
recruiting efforts. He was promoted to full-time
assistant baseball coach during the summer of 2005. The
2007 season is his second campaign as assistant coach.
A 2000 graduate of Wingate University,
Gregory spent the previous four seasons as the graduate
assistant coach and head junior varsity coach for the
Bulldogs. He worked with the Bulldog hitters and
infielders. Also, Gregory was responsible for the
development of junior varsity players. He was heavily
involved with the Bulldogs’ recruiting efforts.
In 2003, the Bulldogs compiled a .320
batting average, ranking second in the South Atlantic
Conference. Gregory works closely with the Bulldog
defense. Wingate set a Bulldog NCAA team mark with a
.956 fielding percentage in 2004.
Gregory earned four letters for the Wingate University
baseball team from 1997-2000. He was a member of the
2000 team that won the South Atlantic Conference regular
season crown.
In the summer of 2005, Gregory was an
assistant coach for the Harrisonburg (Va.) Turks in the
prestigious Valley Baseball League (VBL). During the
summer of 2004, Gregory served as the head coach for the
Rowan Pirates in the Southern Conference Baseball League
(SCBL). He had previous experience in the SCBL, as he
was the assistant coach for the Monroe Bulldogs in 2000.
In addition to his undergraduate degree
in Sport Management (Wingate class of 2000), Gregory
earned his Master of Business Administration (MBA)
degree at Wingate University in May of 2004. Prior to
joining the Wingate baseball staff, Gregory was the
assistant golf professional at nearby Eagle Chase Golf
Club from 1999-2001.

Gregory’s has much invested in Bulldog baseball,” head
coach Bill Nash said. “He was a student-athlete in our
program and a graduate assistant coach. Jeff has a love
and passion for Wingate University and Wingate
Baseball.”
