Robert Dooley,
Assistant Men's Basketball Coach
Rob Dooley starts his fifth season as assistant basketball coach at Wingate University in 2006-07. During his time with the Bulldogs, the team has shared one South Atlantic Conference regular season championship (2003) and earned one Food Lion SAC tournament title (2006). Wingate participated in the NCAA play-offs in 2006. Dooley is involved in every aspect of the Wingate program, including game coaching, recruiting, scouting and planning practices. Prior to joining the Wingate staff, he spent two seasons as assistant men’s basketball coach at Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, N.C. While at Gardner-Webb, Dooley assisted in all facets of the program. He also helped coordinate summer player workouts and assisted with the Runnin’ Bulldogs team weight program. Before joining the Gardner-Webb staff, Dooley spent one year as assistant coach at The Citadel in Charleston, S.C. Dooley was an assistant men’s basketball coach for two years at Campbell University in Buies Creek, N.C. He also spent two years as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Chowan College in Murfreesboro, N.C. While at Chowan, he also spent a semester as an intern in the College’s admissions office. His first coaching experience was a one-year stint as assistant men’s basketball coach at East Meadow (Mass.) High School. Dooley graduated from Western New England (Mass.) College in 1993 with a B.S. degree in human resource management. He played two seasons for the basketball team at WNEC, participating in the NCAA Division III tournament in 1990.
