Brooke Wilkinson is the newest member of the women’s basketball coaching staff at Wingate University. She is completing her first year as a graduate assistant for head coach Barbara Nelson. Wilkinson was a four-year starter on the women’s basketball team at Gardner-Webb University, where she was a standout performer on and off the court for the GWU Bulldogs.

A Gastonia native, the East Gaston High School product finished her career in second place for most games played (106) and most games started (87) at Gardner-Webb. A good all-around player, Wilkinson netted a career-high 22 points against Mercer on Jan. 3, 2004. She dished out a career-best seven assists against Florida Atlantic in 2003, currently the second most in a single game in GWU history.   

“Brooke was a solid player for us and we are grateful for her time at Gardner-Webb,” GWU head coach Rick Reeves said. “She helped us reach the Atlantic Sun Tournament for the first time in our history during her senior season. We wish her continued success at Wingate University.”

Wilkinson graduated in May, 2006 and earned her degree in public relations with a minor in business administration. She is enrolled in Wingate’s MBA program through the University’s Metro College.
