Hello everyone! My name is Rebecca Bloemer and I am a freshman middle blocker on the Wingate volleyball team. I am from Louisville, Kentucky; I love being here in North Carolina!!! It has been so much fun coming in as a freshman and getting the opportunity to play with this amazing group of girls!!!

On Wednesday night (Oct. 17), we had an AMAZING win over USC Aiken! The victory gives us an overall record of 25-1! Our only loss so far was USC Aiken; we beat them in three (games) Wednesday night! We were all super-excited for this match and came ready to play. During practice on Monday and Tuesday, we worked on improving certain areas that would help us be prepared for the big game. I believe the hard work paid off!

We came out Wednesday night with our game faces on and ready to play. As always, we were fired up and ready to do the things we do best. We started strong from the beginning and swept USC Aiken in three! This was a really big game for us because they are currently the best team in the Peach Belt Conference and ranked in the top 10 regionally. This win helps us with our strong regional ranking and shows how much we have improved this year!

We had tons of fans come out and support us Wednesday night. I think this really helped us play strong and (stay) pumped up. We always appreciate a good crowd and want to thank everyone who came out and showed us their support. It is so much more exhilarating to beat a really good team at home…in front of our friends and families!

Even with this win, we aren’t going to stop here. After post-game celebrations in Cuddy Arena, we know we must be ready to come back into practice…focused and ready to improve. We play Catawba tonight (Friday, Oct. 19). The Catawba Indians will be another extremely exciting and important match! The match starts at 7 p.m. Friday in Cuddy Arena! Go Bulldogs!!!!!!
