What’s going on everybody! My name is Ashley Craven and I am a junior middle blocker on the Wingate volleyball team. Through Saturday, Sept. 15, we are 2-0 in South Atlantic Conference. We are very excited! Our match Friday night (Sept. 14) against Tusculum was an amazing game. They really gave us a fight; we pulled through and won in five!

If we didn’t have our usual wonderful fans that always come out and support the cause, the game could have gone either way easily! They (the fans) really kept us fired up when we needed to push through tough points - the men’s swimming team was going crazy after every single point! And occasionally, my roommate felt the need to get a crowd “wave” started…

We played Mars Hill Saturday (Sept. 15) and won 3-0. Even though the score looks good, Coach Collier quickly brought to our attention that we need to pick up our defensive game in order to be the team we want to be! The majority of our players played Saturday, which really showed the depth of our team. We know we have much work to do in order to clinch some wins on the road, but we are going to continue to work hard and achieve the goals we have set for this year.

I love my teammates and we are going to continue to cause havoc in the conference! For the future, I feel sorry for the (visiting) teams that come into our arena because we have the best fans in the SAC! A note to our fans…keep coming out and supporting us and we will give you a good show!
