Hey everybody! My name is Jacki Emmenecker and I am a sophomore outside hitter from Perrysburg, Ohio. We have had another exciting week with our team. We are currently 18-1 overall; we won our most recent match against Brevard College this past Saturday (Sept. 29). This was an experience to remember. There was a scheduling mix-up and we didn’t have any referees. As Coach Collier was walking out of the gym, a high school coach mentioned that he was a referee and his daughter was a certified down referee. The game continued without a hitch!
On Sunday (Sept. 30), we had our annual golf tournament. This year, we had approximately 30 golfers. It was a blast! I was there before the tournament started with most of the upperclassmen and sophomores. The team split into two groups: one was early to help with the check in and the later group helped with a buffet and raffle prize drawing.
While some teammates were checking in the golfers, senior Melissa DeLuca, junior Kathryn Reddick and I ran a putting contest with the participating golfers. It was nice to get out and meet the people that were supporting us. Our group wished the golfers good luck and ate lunch with coach.
The reason that almost all of us were in the earlier group was that our sorority, Alpha Xi Delta, had our pledge ceremony the same afternoon. There are six of us in the sorority with (sophomore middle blocker) Megan McVicker as our newest member. I want to say thank you to all the golfers for their support. We had so much fun at the tournament and then with our sorority, but we will focus on our next home match against Newberry this Tuesday at 7 p.m.
