Another exciting week for Wingate University women’s soccer…Last Monday (Sept. 3), we traveled to Coker College in Hartsville, S.C. We were really looking forward to the game. Unfortunately, due to a miscommunication with the referee assignor, we were unable to play. The contest is rescheduled for October 20.

Since we did not get to play Monday night’s game, we were even more pumped up for the game on Wednesday against Belmont Abbey (Sept. 5). It was a huge game for us. Without a doubt, our hard work paid off when we went up 2-0 after 20 minutes. We had a few scary moments in the second half, but we clinched the win when Megan (Smith) scored her second goal. We were very excited about this win because Belmont Abbey was nationally ranked the previous week. It was a big test for us physically and mentally.

After four games in nine days, it was nice to get a break for a few days until this Wednesday’s game with UNC Pembroke (Sept. 12). This (break) has also allowed us to get back on the practice field and keep improving on our performances. With intense practices and a great team spirit, we are all looking really forward to Wednesday night. Please come out and cheer on the Bulldogs (kick-off is 6 p.m.)!!
