Keith McGirt joined the coaching staff as an assistant coach in the 2006-07 season. In the spring of 2006, McGirt was honored with the Most Valuable Player award for men’s golf. McGirt finished out the year averaging 77.75 shots per round. A four-year starter, McGirt received a B.S. degree in Management at Wingate’s in May of 2006.

In 2006, McGirt finished tied for ninth in the Outback Intercollegiate Shootout (Feb. 6-7, 2006) and the J. Ralph Hargett Memorial Invitational (March 27-28). He achieved his low round of the season (74) on two occasions. McGirt shot a 74 in the Coker Invitational on October 25. He also carded a 74 at the Food Lion SAC championships on April 10.

In his junior season, McGirt saved his best golf for the Food Lion SAC tourney, carding a season-low round of 73 on the first day (April 19). He followed the 73 with a 75 in the second round of the SAC event. McGirt achieved the best round of his career on Sept. 9, 2003, when he shot a 71 in the Billy Joe Patton Invitational as a true freshman. The round was the first of his collegiate career.

After graduating, McGirt began working at the Eastern Junior Golf Association. The EJGA is a junior golf tour designed to offer affordable, high quality, professionally conducted junior golf tournaments. The Tour has been in operation for nine years and conducts events all over North Carolina. McGirt was the Assistant Marketing Director/Tournament Director. He assisted with advertisement, recruiting new clients, and operating two-day events throughout the season.

McGirt has also caddied for his brother William in several professional golf tournaments and qualifiers. In October and November of 2006, he caddied for William at the PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament in Florida. In June 2007, he caddied for William in the U.S. Open qualifier in Columbus, Ohio.

McGirt is currently living in Wingate, and working on his Masters of Business Administration at Wingate University. He and 2005 Wingate alum Kari Hallin (2005) were engaged in December of 2006. The two are getting married October 25, 2008.
