2006-07: Smith is a member of Wingate’s
Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
2005-06:
A very steady performer, Smith had four top 20 finishes as a
junior. She recorded a 76 in the Anderson Invitational for her
top round of the season (Sept. 13). Smith earned a fifth-place
finish at Anderson. She tied for sixth at the Bulldog
Invitational, carding 165 (80-85). Her first-round 80 at the
Bulldog event matched her top round of the season. Smith was a
second team All-South Atlantic Conference selection. On the
year, Smith averaged 85.70.
2004-05: Smith was
Wingate’s top scorer as a freshman, posting an 86.81
scoring average…A second team All-SAC performer, Smith
placed tied for 12th in the Food Lion SAC tournament
with a three-round total of 262 (89-90-83)…Her best
round of the season was a 79 at the Patsy Rendleman
Invitational (Oct. 19)…Smith’s top freshman year finish
was a sixth-place ranking at the Lenoir-Rhyne
Invitational (Feb. 19-20), as she shot 81-85=166…Season
scoring average: 86.81
HIGH
SCHOOL: Shannon Smith attended Scotland High School
in Laurinburg, N.C….Shannon was a four-year letterwinner
on the golf team… On the course, Smith earned the team
MVP award all four seasons as well as earning both
all-conference and all-state honors each of her four
high school campaigns…She also participated in the
German club and the Drafting club…A very active member
of her Presbyterian youth group, Smith was a honor
student at Scotland…
