David Olliver established himself as one of the best defensive midfielders in the country in 2007. His ability to shut down opponents was a vital part of a defense that held opponents to 8.40 goals per game (best in the Deep South Conference and sixth-best in the NCAA). He also showed an improved ability to create offense as he produced six goals and four assists. His three goal and one assist effort versus Mars Hill earned him DSC player of the week. His experience and leadership will be most important in 2008 as a young group of defensive midfielders join him.
