Wingate
University Sports Hall of Fame member Ron Ladimir
returns to his alma mater in the
fall of 2007 to serve as assistant men’s and women’s
soccer coach.
One
of the most decorated student-athletes in Bulldog
history, Ladimir was named the J. Howard Williams Award
winner for Wingate’s Most Outstanding Male Athlete in
1996.
Ladimir was a CoSIDA first team soccer All-American and
Umbro second team soccer All-American in 1996. He is the
all-time leading scorer in Wingate soccer history with
55 goals and 54 assists (164 points). Ladimir is listed
on the SAC soccer scoring charts as number two in total
points.
A
three-year All-SAC first team selection, Ladimir helped
lead the Bulldogs to the SAC regular season and
conference tournament titles in 1994. He was honored as
the soccer team MVP in 1996. A two-sport star at
Wingate, Ladimir was also a four-year letterman in
tennis. He won the Wingate coaches award in tennis in
1997.
Following his graduation from Wingate, Ladimir went to
the University of South Florida to obtain his teaching
credentials. He taught math and coached men’s soccer and
tennis for seven years at Hudson (Fla.) High School. His
overall record as the Hudson High men’s soccer coach was
100-50-9. Ladimir was named conference Coach of the Year
five times (four for soccer, one for tennis). In soccer,
Hudson earned six combined district and conference
titles. The team advanced to the Florida state play-offs
six times.
Ladimir accepted a teaching and coaching position at
brand-new Porter Ridge High School during the summer of
2005. In the school’s first-ever men’s soccer season,
Ladimir led the Pirates to a 13-8 overall record. For
his efforts, he was named Union County men’s soccer
Coach of the Year.
Both the PRHS men’s and women’s soccer teams have earned
state play-off berths two years each. Ladimir’s combined
PRHS record is 69-19-4. On the men’s side, the Pirates
have earned one conference title. The women also have
one league championship. The 2007 PRHS women’s team
advanced to the NCHSAA state semi-finals.
