2007:
LaRonda McClain earned first team Daktronics All-South
Atlantic Regions honors. She was a second team All-SAC member. McClain
started games at shortstop, first base, designated player and in right
field and centerfield. She was second on the team with a .401 batting
average and led the team with a .390 SAC average. McClain added three
doubles, 15 RBI, 10 sacrifice hits, 23 multiple-hit games and 23 stolen
bases. She also led the team with 42 runs scored.
PERSONAL: McClain was an outfielder for coach Suzanne Grayson at
Kings Mountain High School. Kings Mountain won the 2005 and 2006 N.C.
softball state championship. McClain was a four-time All-State selection.
McClain also lettered in volleyball and basketball. She was honored as the
Athlete of the Year as a senior. Off the field, McClain was a three-year
Gold Card Holder and a four-time Scholar Athlete. LaRonda is the daughter
of John Barnett and Licia McClain. Her aunt (Sheila
McClain) graduated from Wingate. She is majoring in Elementary
Education. |
