Steps for International Student Athletes Coming to
Wingate University: Below you will find information on the process
that international student-athletes must follow in regards to NCAA
compliance, enrollment and government requirements in order to attend
Wingate University as a student-athlete.
Compliance Process
1)
NCAA Clearinghouse Registration:
www.ncaaclearinghouse.net
-
If the student-athlete has attended university full time and
is transferring in 24 hours or more the student-athlete only
must complete the amateurism portion of the Clearinghouse.
-
If the student-athlete is entering university full time for the
first time he or she must complete both the academic and amateurism
portions of the Clearinghouse. Please note that if the student-athlete
has attended University full time but will transfer in less than 24 hours
the student-athlete must complete both the academic portion and the
amateurism portion of the Clearinghouse.
-
The registration fee for international student-athletes is $75
regardless of whether they are completing both portions of the
Clearinghouse or just the amateurism portion
-
Note: For the academic portion of the Clearinghouse the
student-athlete will be asked to send their test scores as well as copies
of their transcripts in both English and the student-athlete’s native
language.
-
Note: Remember that all test scores must come to the
Clearinghouse directly from the testing agency. (The code to have test
scores sent directly to the Clearinghouse is 9999.)
2)
Complete the international student-athlete amateurism questionnaire
for Wingate University.
-
This questionnaire does ask questions similar to the questions from
the amateurism portion of the Clearinghouse. The Clearinghouse does
certify the amateurism status of the student-athlete. However it is
ultimately the responsibility of the institution to certify eligibility.
